Optical Crate Recognition
The sorting installation has a transit speed of 73
crates per minute. The system recognition uses optical techniques such
as colour, dimensions are trade mark. Optical recognition also
distinguishes between green green and clear bottles and counts all
bottles in transit ensuring that each store is credited the correct
amount. |

Feeding
The pallets with a Vanriet of crates randomly stacked
are introduced into the system by means of pallet trucks. To accommodate
automatic paper-free crediting of the stores, the store number of each
pallet is entered into the computer. The crates of empty bottles are
conveyed by a lifting table to two working positions in the system, one
of which is manual potion to depalletize the crates and, and by means of
a foot pedal, raised them to an ergonomic working level. |

Depalletizing Robot
The automated working position contains a gantry
robot with a specially constructed gripping device. Capable of
depalletizing 1,200 randomly stacked crates per hour. The robot is
equipped with its own optical steering which, by scanning the contours
of the crates on the pallet presented, positions the gripping device
always picks up an entire row of crates. After a complete layer has been
removed the pallet is raised by the pallet table. Each of the five
depalletiztion stations has an outlet conveyor with a straightening
section. This ensures that the crates enter the sorting installation's
main transport conveyor in a length wise manner |

Special Auto Sorter
Using the information obtained, crates are, fed out
sorted by type via 23 outlets. The Auto Sorter is equipped with
specially developed glass resistant plastic outlet shoes and is highly
resistant to dirt, grit, and moisture.

Palletization
Only the A-brands, are automatically formed and
palletized. When a pallet layer of crates of the same type is ready in
the buffer, it is conveyed to one of the forming tables situated beside
the two palletization robots. The gantry robot conveys the layers to the
correct pallet. In the case of column-stacked soft drinks, binding tape
can, when necessary, be applied automatically. The pattetization robots
are produced by Rohaco Industrial Handling and each has a capacity of
200 layers per hour, or 2000 crates |

Pallet
conveying
Full pallets are conveyed by means of two traversing
wagons running directly in contact with the concrete floor, and 16
pallet lines. The traverse wagons are equipped with independent steering
for the roadway and are able to position precisely. When they pick up a
full pallet an empty pallet is immediately removed and deposited at the
stacking point. In this way the pallet lines are driven by the traverse
wagons. The full pallets are conveyed by the pallet lines outside the
building where, along with the manually palletized B and C-brands, they
are placed by fork-lift truck in the buffer for the supplier |
